No More Résumés, Say Some Firms
Instead of asking for résumés, the New York venture-capital firm—which has invested in Twitter, Foursquare, Zynga and other technology companies—asked applicants to send links representing their “Web presence,” such as a Twitter account or Tumblr blog. Applicants also had to submit short videos demonstrating their interest in the position.

Your Frontline Employees Are Your Brand. How Do You Hire The Right Ones?
Managers keep operations running smoothly. But their most important role should be ensuring that employees feel respected and valued by setting the tone for customer service and reinforcing good behavior.
Continuum worked with an international hotel chain to move the manager from the back office to a greeting station on the lobby floor as a “service conductor.” The manager’s consistent presence signals the priority the organization places on positive, frequent customer interaction and serves as an example of customer service for the staff.

Inc. Prediction for 2011 - The Return of Hiring - Yes, hiring. Ever heard of it? American companies shed millions of jobs during the recession. As the economy has recovered they’ve made up for the shortfall by getting more out of their workers—productivity grew by 3.5 percent in 2009. But productivity is slowing down, which means companies will have to start hiring again. What does it mean? You’ll have to work harder (and pay more) to attract talented, motivated people.
Yahoo’s New Recruitment Effort: Google Ads On Ex-Employee Name Queries
“Yahoo is apparently buying ad space from Schachter’s current employer, Google, to promote its own jobs when you do a search for ‘Joshua Schacter.’”
It’s no secret that ADD-riddled readers like numbers in headlines. Magazines are experts. “10 Ways to Lose 10 Lbs.” “100 Ways to Leave Your Lover.” Hey, it works well with songs too.
Well, it apparently works really well with recruiters and HR-types. Checkout the recent top stories from 2009 on Smartbrief on Workforce:

Why are numbers so effective?
I once read a quote from the editor at Maxim that numbers help readers create an expectation of feasibility (or something like that). Basically, “I’m lazy and would rather consume a Fig Newton, but I guess perusing 10 of anything won’t take too much of my precious time.”
And numbers work especially well with recruiters for some weird reason. Other Smartbrief Top Tens, like marketing or mobile, had fewer titles with numbers. So, the next time you want a successful blog post, news story or Letter to Santa, put numbers in it.
